London, 2 August 2017: Acamar Films has teamed up with comedy duo the Scummy Mummies to launch a social media campaign aimed at parents of pre-schoolers and Bing fans during the summer holidays.
Ellie Gibson and Helen Thorn of the Scummy Mummies will be posting funny photos of their own challenging parental moments, using the hashtag #WhatWouldFlopDo and encouraging other parents to do the same. The campaign will launch on 1 August across their digital channels including the Scummy Mummies blog, podcast, Facebook page, and Twitter account, with the majority of the activity driven from their Instagram profile @scummymummies for a two-week period.
The activity is designed to encourage parents to celebrate the highs and lows of parenting a pre-schooler and those subsequent challenges experienced, whether that be potty training, getting dressed or messy mealtimes. In this way, the campaign mirrors the authentic nature of the Bing series, which portrays the everyday moments and milestones experienced by all preschool children. Flop is Bing’s carer in the show who always remains calm and considered when looking after Bing.
The Scummy Mummies will be encouraging their followers to share their own parenting challenges while using the hashtag #WhatWouldFlopDo. From there, the duo will select their favourite post, and the winner will win a visit from Bing and Flop to their child’s nursery or preschool.
Lee Harris, Head of Marketing at Acamar Films, says: “We are thrilled about this collaboration with the Scummy Mummies! We can’t wait to work with them to celebrate the humour in the moments that can otherwise feel exhausting or overwhelming and we look forward to engaging our target audience in a completely new and innovative way.”
Ellie Gibson says: “My kids love a bit of Bing, and the show’s honesty about the reality of family life fits well with our kind of humour.”
Helen Thorn adds: “We love to hear true stories about what other mums and dads are going through, so we can’t wait to see the funny posts parents will be sharing.”
Acamar has timed the campaign to support the launch of a brand new toy from Fisher Price – Bing’s master toy partner. Toilet Train Bing will be rolling out at selected retailers throughout the summer and is an innovative, first toy of its kind. The toy encourages Bingsters to help Bing make it to the toilet in time when he lets them know ‘it’s time to go’.
